Hamid Outabounte
Senior DevOps & Infrastructure Engineer
Six years keeping 400+ Linux servers online. I write the automation, set up the monitoring, and plan for the day the hardware fails, so most problems get caught before anyone notices.
- 400+Linux servers managed
- ~40%Operational overhead cut
- 6Years in production ops
DevOps and infrastructure engineer who spends most days on automation (Bash, Python, Puppet, Ansible), CI/CD, monitoring (Nagios, Grafana, Prometheus), and disaster recovery (LVM, DRBD). I like infrastructure that's boring to run, and I put in the work up front to keep it that way.
About
I'm a DevOps and infrastructure engineer based in Morocco. Right now I look after roughly 400 Linux servers for Webpick / Pilot Systems: patching them, watching them, and keeping them running.
Most of my time goes into automation and reliability. If a task gets done more than a couple of times, I'd rather write a Bash, Python, Puppet, or Ansible job for it and a runbook to go with it than keep doing it by hand.
When something breaks, I'm usually the one digging into why and working with the dev and QA teams to make sure it doesn't come back. I'm open to remote work.
Experience
- Run 400+ Linux servers on Proxmox KVM: monitoring, patching, and performance tuning to keep uptime where it needs to be.
- Wrote Bash, Python, and Puppet automation that cut about 40% of the manual ops work, and wired Nagios alerts into Grafana and Prometheus dashboards.
- Built and regularly tested disaster recovery with LVM and DRBD, so critical services can come back quickly with little data loss.
- Handle the tricky incidents that get escalated, tracking down root causes with the dev and QA teams instead of just papering over symptoms.
- Wrote the internal runbooks so the same fix doesn't have to be figured out twice, which also got new engineers up to speed faster.
- Owned the day-to-day infrastructure for several client environments, accountable for uptime and SLAs across mixed Windows and Linux estates.
- Turned recurring incidents into permanent fixes, working with engineering to kill the root causes instead of just clearing the queue.
- Became the go-to engineer for the harder infrastructure problems, trusted by clients to keep their critical systems running.
- Delivered infrastructure projects for international clients start to finish: virtualisation (KVM, VMware), networking, firewall hardening, and security setup.
- Handled server migrations and built infrastructure from scratch on both Windows and Linux.
